Make your own Papophoplon!

The customisable Papophoplon

You can now make your own Papophoplon.

Enter your longitude and time zone offset from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) to find out the solar time for every day of the year!

You can use it in two different ways:

1. Play online

Tick the ‘Vector’ box to display a button that allows you to change the day of the year. You will see a vector appear, along with a green dot on the curve.

At the bottom, the Papophoplon shows you the difference between solar time and standard time for your location, and for the selected day.

The result analyses the different components of the difference and displays the portion attributable to:

  • The application of summer time
  • Longitude
  • The equation of time

2. Print

By unchecking the ‘Vector’ box, you remove all the information, leaving you with a Papophoplon ready to print!

The ruler on the side is the Papophoplon’s pointer. In the paper version, it must be cut out and placed on the dial.

Have fun and let me know what you think!

Please note that the Papophoplon is protected (patent pending). You can use this page to make electronic versions and print them on paper, but physical Papophoplons must be ordred on our website.
