Sundial glass

• Don’t miss the aperitif hour! Your glass tells you the time. A way to make the glasses of your café or restaurant establishment unforgettable (the dial is calculated for the latitude of your establishment). Ideal for a terrace.
• How it works ? A mark is engraved on one side of the glass. On the other, the reading dial allows you to read the time depending on the season. The reading is more precise on an empty glass: finish your glass quickly!

The Shepherd's Dial

• Tell the time like a shepherd! “The Shepherd’s Star” (Venus) is an unreliable indicator of when the sheep should be brought in. The shepherds had a much more precise tool.
• The shepherd’s dial is a vertical type sundial adopted by the shepherds of the Pyrenees at the end of the 19th century.

The solar sheet

• A tablecloth in direct sunlight is normally avoided. But here, before or after the meal, your tablecloth is a sundial. Don’t forget a good bottle: it’s what tells you the time
• How it works ? Any flat surface can be transformed into a sundial. Here, the tablecloth is an analemmatic dial and a bottle serves as a gnomon. Simply place the bottle on today’s date.

The solar compass

• How it works ? Two sundials of different types (a classic dial and an analemmatic dial) assembled on the same tool: if they give the same time, you have found North!

The nocturlabe

• If you see a star at night, it can tell you the time. Learn to tell time at night, like ship captains who wanted to know how much time was left before the tide.
• How it works ? On the principle of the astrolabe, in a very simplified version, if you know the date and the position of a known star, you know the time. If there is enough time, you can go back to bed!

The pool dial

• No telephone at the water’s edge! But then, how do you know the time in the swimming pool? Get closer to your floating sundial and tell the time!
• A sun compass is also a sundial.
